November 30, 2018 Affordable Housing Modifications Bill Summary
Though you’re probably tired of hearing this by now, 2019 is shaping up to be a BIG year for housing policy. During the 2018 general session, the state legislature created the Commission on Housing Affordability to study strategies that mitigate the rising costs of housing. Though the commission will continue to meet for another 4 years, the first group of policy recommendations have been compiled into a BILL FILE. A draft was presented to the Economic Development and Workforce Services Interim Committee on November 14th. Since the bill is 45 pages long and somewhat complicated, ULCT produced a BRIEF SUMMARY explaining how the bill builds on last year’s HB 259 and SB 136.
